Lent begins this year on February 17. It will be very different, of course, due to the pandemic. There will be no ashes, but we are making every effort to prepare appropriately to help our community observe a holy Lent. Naturally, we will feature online worship opportunities, as well as an in-person worship service at 5:30 pm. We will not be imposing ashes this year; rather we will commit ourselves to a Holy Lent through our prayers, hymns, confession, and study of scripture. Please join us as we begin our journey!
The schedule for Ash Wednesday is as follows:
- 7:00 am and 9:00 am: Prayers and Invitation to a Holy Lent, streaming on Facebook
- 12:00 noon: Live-stream from the Cathedral with the Bishop, Invitation to a Holy Lent, with prayers, hymns, scripture, and confession
- 5:30 pm: In-person worship in the Memorial Garden (shown above) with the Vicars, including the Invitation to a Holy Lent and confession. We will return ashes to the earth as a mark of the beginning of the season, and share in the first Eucharist of Lent. Please bring your own chair. (We will observe all safe practices and hold distancing expectations and mask-wearing.)
