Stewardship 2017: Contemporary Epistles

This year’s Stewardship program began with two “listening sessions” on Wednesday, Sep. 13 and Saturday, Sep. 16. Fr. Moki summed up the findings in a sermon on September 24th at all three services.

During the month of October we have planned a series of five “contemporary epistles” from members of the congregation. These presentations will take the place of the customary Second Lesson, and will be presented at all three Sunday services. Here is the lineup:

Sunday October 1st – Victor Young
Victor has been an active Cathedral member for the last 7 years, serving as an acolyte since 2012 and providing ukulele and organ music occasionally since 2014. He regularly attends the Rock youth formation group, and is in the 7th grade at Kamehameha Schools.

Sunday October 8th – Matt Brown
Matt has been an active Cathedral member for almost 15 years. He ushers, acolytes, and counts the weekly offerings and alms. In his professional life, he serves as a full time district administrator for the Hawai‘i State Public Library System. He is a retired Captain, US Navy, and married his long time partner, Dante, at St. Andrews Cathedral in 2014.

Sunday October 15th – Beth DeLong
Beth is a recent Cathedral attendee, previously with the United Methodist Church. She retired from teaching in May of this year, and serves as Usher and Reader. Beth is thankful to have more time for God, family, friends and hobbies. She shares what it means to have St. Andrews Cathedral be a part of her life, despite and including her long drive in from Waialua for Sunday service.

Sunday October 22nd – Todd Beckham
Todd has been our Director of Music since early 2017, having served as organist, substitute organist, and Choral Scholar since May, 2016. Todd has an extensive background in Episcopal Church music and choral direction. Before coming to Hawai‘i, he was the organist and director of music at St. Barnabas Episcopal, Falmouth, MA. Todd and his wife Jennifer moved to Hawai‘i in May 2016. Jennifer is the parish administrator at St Elizabeth’s Church.

Sunday October 29th – Theone Vredenburg
Theone has been a life-long Episcopalian. She came to the Cathedral as a Priory boarding student, having been baptised at Christ Church Kealakekua, Big Island. She has served as a Sunday School teacher, Convention delegate, and member of the Chapter, Finance, Pastoral Care, and Liturgical Celebrations Committees. Theone is a dedicated acolyte, eucharistic minister, altar guild member, offertory counter, and office volunteer extraordinaire!

Sunday October 29th we will have the in-gathering of Pledges
